Description
What is Di-Isocyanates Training? Di-Isocyanates training is a mandatory safety certification for industrial and professional users of polyurethane (PU) adhesives, sealants, and coatings. Mandated by REACH Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 (Entry 74, Annex XVII), this training became a legal requirement on 24 August 2023. It provides the technical competence to handle monomeric di-isocyanates safely, implement exposure controls, and mitigate the risk of skin and respiratory sensitisation.
Statutory Authority & REACH Regulation
The European Union (EU) and Ireland (via the HSA) enforce strict controls on the industrial use of di-isocyanates to prevent occupational illness. This programme is mapped to the following regulatory frameworks:
- Primary Regulation: REACH Annex XVII, Entry 74.
- Mandatory Training Trigger: Any substance or mixture where the total concentration of di-isocyanates is > 0.1% by weight.
- Legal Deadline: Since 24 August 2023, industrial/professional use is prohibited without documented competency training.
Who Should Attend
