Description

IOSH Managing Safely is the global benchmark certification for managers and supervisors to oversee health and safety within any organisational department. This 3-day programme provides a structured framework for identifying workplace hazards, conducting 5-step risk assessments, and investigating incidents. It ensures compliance with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 by equipping leaders with the technical competence to implement the Hierarchy of Risk Control and monitor safety performance via proactive and reactive data.
The IOSH Managing Safely curriculum is built upon the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) model. This ensures that safety management is a continuous improvement cycle integrated into core business operations rather than a siloed administrative task.
- Statutory Responsibility: Developing a comprehensive understanding of the legal "Duty of Care" for supervisors under Irish and International law.
- Risk Methodology: Mastering the transition from "Hazard Identification" to "Risk Control" using standardised 5x5 risk scoring matrices.
- Performance Metrics: Utilising Leading Indicators (e.g., training rates, safety audits) and Lagging Indicators (e.g., Lost Time Injuries, accident rates) to drive data-led safety cultures.
