Module 1: The Foundations of Confined Space Safety
- In-depth analysis of the Health and Safety legislation and the HSA Code of Practice.
- Advanced hazard identification and risk level classification (Low, Medium, High).
- Understanding atmospheric hazards, gas properties, and monitoring procedures.
Module 2: Equipment & Safe Systems of Work
- Comprehensive knowledge of all standard equipment: from harnesses, tripods, and gas detectors to Escape Sets and full Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).
- Developing and implementing robust permit-to-work systems, risk assessments, and method statements.
- Defining appropriate manning levels and the specific roles and responsibilities within a team.
Module 3: Practical Application & Scenario Management
- Lead practical exercises, including pre-entry gas testing, equipment setup, and controlling entry.
- Manage a variety of simulated entries for Low, Medium, and High-Risk scenarios.
- Direct a low-risk rescue and a medium-risk self-rescue.
Module 4: Instructional Technique & Assessment

Certification & Assessment

- Practical Assessment (50%)
- Deliver a Training Module from the confined space syllabus to your peers.
