2 Day Confined Space Training & Working BA (High Risk)

Description

This Working BA Confined Space Training Course provides content and practical elements that teach delegates how to operate safely in High Risk Confined Space Environments when carrying out process or maintenance work. It covers a wide range of working environments including Chlorine Injection Rooms, Gas Control Cabinets and survey work in Water / Waste Water Environments. We have been delivering this course for over 15 years and have experience in most, if not all Industrial Environments.

Often referred to as High Risk Confined Space Work, it involves the use of a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) in order to provide the worker with a self-contained air supply. This allows the worker to safely operate in an IDHL atmosphere or an area which has the potential to suddenly change to IDHL.

The course aim is to teach delegates how to Prepare and Work Safely where there are hazards present or where they have the potential to be realised.  The delegates are taken through the a Safe System of Work for specific hazards present in these environments.   They will be shown the required mitigation controls. Atmospheric Gases, Risk Assessment, Permits, Confined Space Entry and Emergencies are all included.

Practical training takes place in one of our mobile simulated confined space training locations nationwide. Delegates use and master gas detection devices, vertical access using tripod and winch systems, Escape Breathing Apparatus (EBA) and Working Breathing Apparatus (WBA). Each learner is issued with their own equipment and BA Set.  Individuals are assessed on their own and as part of a team.

Who Should Attend

Employees who will be required to work in Confined Spaces and:

  • Use Full Working Breathing Apparatus as part of a Safe System of Work.
  • Employees who are going on to become members of a Confined Space Search and Rescue Team

This course is also suitable for Supervisors, Managers and Safety Professionals wishing to gain an appreciation of the various work systems and safety equipment used in Confined Space Work.

Additional Information

Training Equipment

We train with SCBA Sets utilizing 9 litre, 45 minute duration cylinders and  10 Minute Continuous Flow Escape Sets (hood type) as standard. That said, we carry a full range of equipment from all mainstream manufacturers.  Delegates can opt to use positive pressure or constant flow  Escape Sets Devices and Drager, Sabre or MSA BA Sets.

We use MSA, RAE and Honeywell gas detectors.  Delegates are welcome to bring their own devices should the have any questions on setup or want us to perform setup.

Airline Supply Systems

Courses can include Trolley Supply Systems with backup air supply or Ring Main Air Supply Systems.

Continued Customer Relationship

Course attendees, or their employers, can discuss confined space issues with one of our consultants at any time.  We offer lifetime support, free of charge.

Prerequisites

This course is a mix of theoretical and practical sessions. Delegates will be required to demonstrate their level of knowledge and understanding of the training programme content.

Other Course Options

Where Full Working Breathing Apparatus is not required as part of the safe work system, our Confined Space Training & Escape BA (Medium Risk) may be a more suitable alternative.

For Emergency Rescue or Search & Rescue Courses have a look at our higher-level course Confined Space Rescue Training.
