Working at Height Instructor, Harness Inspector (City and Guilds Assured)

Description

This course gives participants the knowledge and skills to train employees to work safely at height and perform a pre-user inspection of their harness and lanyard. The qualification certifies participants to deliver Working at Height Training to comply with Irish Regulations and HSA Guidance.

The Working at Height Equipment Inspection module includes key requirements demonstrating how to inspect working at height equipment. The module certifies participants to carry out inspections and sign off on GA forms in the workplace.

Module 1 - Train the Trainer for Working at Heights

  • Types of Equipment & Fall Factors: Understanding the differences
  • Fall Arrest vs. Fall Restraint: Key distinctions and applications
  • Selecting, Fitting & Using Equipment: Best practices for safety
  • Equipment Care, Inspection & Records: GA Forms and maintenance
  • Emergencies & Suspension Trauma: Preparedness and response
  • Practical Demonstration: Hands-on training with working at height systems

Module 2 - Equipment Inspector

  • Regulation 119: Inspection of work equipment
  • Harness Systems: Correct inspection procedures
  • Restraint Systems: Proper inspection methods
  • Fall Arrest Systems: Detailed inspection techniques
  • Fibre Damage, Contamination, Wear & Tear: Identifying and addressing issues
  • Equipment Life Expectancy: Understanding and managing equipment lifespan
  • GA Inspection & Thorough Examination Records: Maintaining accurate documentation

Certification & Assessment

Upon successful completion of the theory exam and practical assessment, participants will be awarded the City and Guilds Working at Height Instructor and Harness Inspector Certificate. This certification is valid for five years and attests to the participant's ability to train others and inspect equipment according to industry standards.

Assessment Method:

  • Theory Exam: 20 multiple-choice questions
  • Practical Assessment: Harness fitting and equipment inspection
